Subsequent model year rear ends (1982 thru 1985) use thicker axle shafts which require wider 35.5mm ID carrier bearings. Late 1982-85 style Spider rear ends are identified by their 12mm ring gear bolts.
We recommend positive identification of later style 124 Spider rear ends as many 1978-85 Spiders have had their rear ends replaced over the years. Two carrier bearings required for all 124 Spider differentials.
