For use with original ("Early Style") lock rings are that require 52mm hex tool opening.   

Not applicable to "late style" 4-Spd type lock-rings that have a 45mm hex opening, or to 5-Spd Fiat and Bertone X1/9s which have larger 65mm hex opening rings.
