It is a two-owner car, and has just 48K miles. It has been fully refurbished, both mechanically and cosmetically by Midwest-Bayless.
It is a very large task to resurrect a lesser car to this level. The body of this car was pristine to begin with, and we have done all of the work inside and out, so you don't have to.

It has an extremely nice factory interior and exterior, and is a reliable, mechanically sound, un-modified example of the highly sought-after fuel injected Bertone badged X1/9.

Body and Exterior
The body is painted factory monochrome Nero (black). A proper "trims-off" repaint has just been performed.

It is the very earliest of the 1987 Interior/Exterior configurations, manufactured in 03/1986, but is a true “1987 model year” vehicle, as noted by the emissions stickers, and distinctive 1987 styling, which includes side moldings, “phone dial” wheels, distinctive instrument cluster fonts and leather-wrapped steering wheel.

It is 100% rust free and collision repair free. The sides are straight, with no collision damage or structural rust issues.

All of the black plastic and metal trims are in great condition with minimal blemishes. It features dual "through-glass" side view mirrors, a hallmark of 1985-on Bertone X1/9s.
Air dam and front spoiler are intact. All lights and lenses are clear and unblemished. All original St. Gobain glass. Original rear wing spoiler.

1500cc engine SOHC engine w/Bosch L-Jet.

Driveline is in excellent, condition, with new timing belt / tensioner replacement, valve adjustment and top gaskets.
Fully electronic Bosch ignition system with new performance coil, cap, rotor, plugs and wires.

Stock exhaust manifold has been replaced with a performance 4-1 long-tube header for improved low-end with OEM ANSA muffler, cat-delete.
Complete fuel system refurbishment with tank cleaning, sending unit, filler neck hose, filter, pump and lines. The EFI manifold has been fully rebuilt with fresh injectors, injector seals, and oxygen sensor.
The engine bay is fully detailed, clean with original, uncut wiring.
The cooling system offers rock-solid temperatures and the fan works correctly.
Expansion tank is clean and holds pressure correctly. Radiator fins are rust free and fans work correctly. Heater valve and all controls work smoothly. All hoses have been replaced.

Climate Control
This is a non-air conditioned car, as built from the factory. It greatly simplifies the engine bay and routine maintenance activities. The heater box was refurbished with a smoothly operating fresh air flap and new heater valve. All levers and controls works correctly. Fan is operational at all speeds.

Electricals
Circuits in great shape, with good voltages, even with wipers, lights and heater fan on. This car features the later style fuse panel with ATC fuses. The "brown wire mod", along with re-terminated main connectors to the fuse panel have been performed.
All accessories and lights work. All cabin switches, gauges, fans, horns and clock work as expected. Aftermarket stereo with four speaker output. Power windows move quickly and smoothly, both sides.

Transmission / Clutch / Driveline
The 5-Spd manual transmission is in excellent condition. It shifts flawlessly up and down with no synchronizer or reverse issues. Trans does not whine. Clutch engages smoothly with no chatter. All clutch hydraulics (master cylinder, slave cylinder and hoses) were replaced. Shifter linkage serviced.

Steering / Suspension / Tires / Wheels / Brakes
Full suspension refurbishment has been performed with new front struts, new upper strut mounts, and radius rod bushings. Steering rack has been rebuilt with new innner and outer tie rods, bushing, and boots. Front and rear control arm ball joints have been checked to be OK.
Front springs have been shortened by one inch to level the car from its original "nose high" factory stance.
All wheel bearings are solid with no hum or play.
Braking system has been completely refurbished, with new master cylinder, calipers, pads, rotors, and hoses at all four corners.
Factory issue 13" Speedline “Phonedial" wheels have been refurbished and look like new. They are fitted with 185/60-13 tires and Bertone “b” centercaps. Car drives straight, tracks true.

Interior / Top
Interior is in excellent condition. Rare uncracked dashboard and the glovebox works!
Original tweed seats and door cards are in excellent condition with no tears or repairs. Passenger side seat has slight UV fading which is exaggerated in photos.

The Bertone X1/9 from 1983-on features an improved, lowered seat arrangement over earlier X1/9s, giving additional head and leg room to even the tallest of drivers.
