This car has 51K one-owner
miles. It has been full refurbished mechanically
and cosmetically by Midwest-Bayless after being revealed as a “barn find”
earlier this year.

It has an extremely nice factory interior and exterior, and is a reliable,
mechanically sound, un-modified example of the highly
sought-after fuel injected Bertone badged X1/9.

Body and Exterior
The body is painted factory monochrome Rosso (red).
It is the very earliest of
the 1987 Interior/Exterior configurations, manufactured in 05/1986, but is a
true “1987 model year” vehicle, as noted by the emissions stickers, and
distinctive 1987 styling, which includes side mouldings, “phone dial” wheels,
and distinctive fonts and controls in the cabin.
It is straight, with no collision damage or structural rust issues.
High gloss to the original paint.
It has a few minor dings or chips that can
seen in the right light or when viewing at sharp angles but is very straight
down the sides. The majority of the
finish is original, with only minor paint correction in select spots of the
lower areas. It can proudly be called an "original finish survivor".
All of the black plastic and metal trims are
in great condition with minimal blemishes. Air dam and front spoiler are
intact. All lights and lenses are clear,
unblemished. All original St. Gobain glass.
Headlights are fully operational, up and down as expected, upgraded to H4 LEDs.
Engine cover is color matched to the car as
original to 1987, and its lack of underseam rust is a true testament to the
overall condition of the vehicle itself.
Floorpans
are excellent, with no rust or damage.
Engine, Fuel,
Ignition, Exhaust and Cooling System:
1500cc engine SOHC engine w/Bosch L-Jet.
Driveline was removed from the vehicle for
complete detailing, all new gaskets and seals, timing belt / tensioner
replacement and valve adjustment.
Complete fuel system refurbishment with FI manifold rebuild, fuel pump,
filter, lines, and injector seals.
The engine bay is clean with original, uncut
wiring.
The cooling system
offers rock-solid temperatures and the fan works correctly.
Expansion tank is clean and holds pressure correctly. Radiator fins are
rust free and fans work correctly. Heater valve and all controls work
smoothly. All hoses have been
replaced.
Climate Control
Heater works
correctly, push-button controls work as needed. Fan is operational at all
speeds.
Original Air conditioning system is fully operational and blows R-12 COLD!
Electricals
Circuits in great shape, with good voltages,
even with wipers, lights and heater fan on. This car features the later
style fuse panel with ATC fuses. All
accessories and lights work. All cabin switches, gauges, fans, horns and
clock work as expected.
Power windows are functional on both sides.
Transmission / Clutch
/ Driveline
The 5-Spd manual transmission is in
excellent condition. It shifts flawlessly up and down with no synchronizer or
reverse issues. Trans does not whine. Clutch pack was replaced, and
clutch hydraulics (master cylinder / slave cylinder, hoses) were replaced.
Steering / Suspension
/ Tires / Wheels / Brakes
Full suspension refurbishment has been
performed with fresh KYB struts, new upper strut mounts, front radius rod
bushings. All ball joints have been
checked to be OK. New wheel bearings at
all four corners.
All wheel bearings are solid with no hum or play.
Braking system has been
completely refurbished, with new master cylinder, calipers at all four corners,
pads, rotors, hoses and handbrake cables.
Factory issue 13" Speedline “Phonedial" wheels in excellent condition
with original era Pirelli A-509 show tires, and Bertone “b” centercaps. Car drives straight, tracks true.
Interior / Top
Interior is in excellent condition. Rare
uncracked dashboard and the glovebox works!
The original greenish tweed seats and door
cards have been replaced with a more appropriate factory issue gray tweed, in excellent
condition with no tears, stains or repairs.
The Bertone X1/9 from 1983-on features an improved, lowered
seat arrangement over earlier X1/9s, giving additional head and leg room to even the tallest of
drivers.
A factory molded black carpet is clean
with good color and minimal blemishes. No visibly torn or worn areas. New floor mats.
Targa top has black headliner and is in
correct working condition with no chips or damage.
Original
spare tire with minimal use.
Front /Rear
Trunk
Front shock towers are very clean, another
sign of the solid body on the car. It is
fitted with factory issue molded front trunk carpet and battery cover intact.
Fluid reservoirs in excellent condition, with
no cracks or repairs.
Rear trunk floor and access panel frame show minimal weathering and no rust or repairs.
Rear trunk contains original carpet, factory jack and toolkit.
Both lower trunk pockets are excellent.
Factory documentation
